Kettle Of Fish: Instrumental

Saturday 22nd April, 7:30pm

“A Cappella” literally translates as “in chapel style” which was once thought to mean unaccompanied vocal or choral music such as the madrigals of the 15th century. However, modern scholars have found that quite often the choir MIGHT be accompanied by Percussion, Double Bass, Baritone Saxophone and Ukuleles.

With that in mind Bristol’s very own leading a cappella group with a fish based name are taking chapel style to the next level with their new show “Instrumental''. It will feature a collection of the finest Guest Star MUSICIANS on the afore-mentioned chapel-friendly instruments.

Known by audiences in the South West for the past 10 years for their quirky and harmonious vocal stylings, ‘the fish’ now take to the 1532 stage. Dean Martin, Ben Folds, The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band, Johnny Cash, Mohammed Rafi and other lesser known artists will be thrown together for a multi-timbral jam of epic proportions.

At times strangely beautiful, at other times beautifully strange and often just silly, this is a night of instrumental a cappella wonders.

Kettle of Fish are David Yapp and Adam Barber (arrangers), Neil Bett, John Drowley, and Jorge Sved.

“One word - Brilliant !”

“A really great evening of beauty, comedy and originality all in good measure! Loved it”

NB: The musicians will be joining us for particular songs. There will still be “unaccompanied” singing for those of you who like that sort of thing.
